55 Honeymoon Destinations You’ll Remember for a Lifetime

Honeymoons are a very important part of the wedding experience, and shouldn’t be pushed aside as an afterthought.

It is the time for couples to celebrate their life as a newly married couple and to reconnect after the stress of planning a wedding. The wedding day may be considered the bride’s special day, however, most brides-to-be find that during the planning process, most of her decisions are based on what would make everyone else happy. The honeymoon, on the other hand, is all about the couple, and no one else. Not only will you need this time together, but you deserve it.

Before getting too far along in your wedding plans sit down with your fiancé and discuss your honeymoon expectations. Men, for the most part, do not care what kind of flowers, invitations or table linens to have at the wedding. They do, however, have strong opinions about the honeymoon.

First, decide what kind of experience both of you want, laid-back, action-packed, or culturally stimulating. Next, decide on what type of climate will be most relaxing to you, tropical, snowy or something in between. Then, determine your budget. By planning your wedding and honeymoon at the same time, you won’t run the risk of spending your entire budget on your wedding, and giving your honeymoon whatever money is left over. Find a balance that works for you to have a beautiful wedding and the honeymoon of your dreams. Here are some ideas to help you and your fiancé get started.

1. Bora Bora

Bora Bora

For couples looking for a tropical honeymoon, Bora Bora is the place for you. Located in French Polynesia, this out-of-the-way island hasn’t been overrun by tourists, and thus maintains its natural beauty. Resorts focus on and cater to couples, especially those on their honeymoon. Bring your wedding license as your pass to extra perks and possible upgrades. The tranquil blues and greens of the island look like they are taken straight off an artist’s palette.

The center of the island has a lush green tropical forest, sprinkled with vibrant blossoming hibiscus. Surrounding the forest is a brilliant blue lagoon, and like a beautiful rare pearl necklace, the secluded white sand beaches encircle the island. Relax in your hut over the water, rub sunscreen on each other on the beach or enjoy any of the numerous activities available.
